From 2003 to 2012 he served as president of the LCMS Mid-South District in Memphis, and the district named him president emeritus on his retirement after thirty-nine years of service. He preached at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Joplin, on the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost, August 30, 2026.
