Immanuel Lutheran Church welcomed Rev. Gregory Mech to be its pastor in 2009. Greg Mech grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, attending Lutheran Schools all of his life. After completing his B.S. in Secondary Education in 1975 (Concordia-Seward), he became an English teacher at Baltimore Lutheran High School. In 1986, Mech earned his Master of Divinity degree at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. This allowed him to serve as pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Chicago, to become chaplain and theology professor at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, and to serve as pastor at First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Las Vegas, before joining the staff at Immanuel-Joplin in 2009.
With a lifetime of faithful service to Christ and His Church, Pastor Mech and his wife Karen are now enjoying their retirement in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area (as of July 1, 2022). Thank you, Pastor Mech and Karen!
The Mech’s have three children — Paul, Amy, and Timothy — and a number of grandchildren spread out from Wisconsin to Nevada. Pastor Mech loves to read, and enjoys his extensive book and record collection.
