Bill Marler

Immanuel Lutheran Church welcomes Rev. Bill Marler as our Intentional Interim Pastor following the retirement of Pastor Mech in the summer of 2022. With a wealth of experience and expertise, Pastor Marler not only fulfills our pastoral needs, but also assists Immanuel as we look to the future and search for our next pastor. Rev. Marler began his time with us in July 2022.

Born and raised in Crystal City near St. Louis, Missouri, William Marler earned his Master of Divinity degree at Concordia Seminary in 1983. As a life-long educator he also holds degrees from St. Louis University and Missouri State University. Rev. Bill Marler taught at Lutheran High School South in St. Louis; was professor on the faculty at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri; and served as pastor for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield. Pastor Marler has been serving the Missouri District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as 1st Vice-President since 2015.

Married for 40 years this year, Bill and Katherine Marler delight in their three adult children and spouses, and several grandchildren. The Marler’s also enjoy boating, fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
