This week we will be working on learning the letter “s”. We will talk about the sound s makes and what s looks like. We will also be learning more about shapes, improving our fine motor skills, and talking about hibernation as we complete our learning projects. We will be enjoying a variety of centers during Center Time. We will be hunting for s’ in the sensory tub and listening to books on tape in addition to our regular centers. You might want to work on reinforcing what we are learning this week by having your child think of items that begin with the sound s makes. As you are reading books together have your child help you “hunt” for all of the s’ in the book or newspaper. This is a great activity to work on visual discrimination which will help your child as they begin to learn to read in the coming years.
On Thursday we will be talking about bears. Please have your child bring their favorite stuffed teddy bear to school with them on that day. We will be discussing hibernation, similarities, differences, and measuring our bears that day.
Please don’t forget to sign your child in each morning. If you use the gym entrance make sure you find the sign in sheet on the table located in the early childhood entry way.
